Design for infills are very diverse. This is an area where I would like to see greater improvements. Similar to the way that many duplexes appear to be two units (same for triplexes or quadplexes), I think if they took more of a row-house characteristic, that would be more appealing to the community. Other changes such as facing the street, more privacy considerations, and adding texture or breaking up massing could be considered.
I am pleased to share that City Council passed my motion (January 24th, 2025 public hearing) for debate to require an enhanced design standard. The result will be coming back to the June 3rd Urban Planning Committee.
