Michael Janz lives to promote education, literacy and community. On October 18th, 2010, he was elected Edmonton Public School Board Trustee for Ward F.
In addition to his service on the public school board, he works part-time as the Marketing Director for the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, serves as a Trustee on the Edmonton Public Library Board and as a representative on the Alberta Library Trustees Association. Michael has served as President of the University of Alberta Students’ Union, Vice-President of the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters Society and volunteers with numerous other partisan and non-partisan political projects.
Michael is passionate about the importance of public education and is an advocate for life-long learning. He is very proud of his BA in History (University of Alberta 2008) and continues to serve his alma mater on the University of Alberta Alumni Council for the Faculty of Arts. In January 2012, Michael will be returning to the University of Alberta on a part-time basis to pursue his Masters in Education Policy Studies. Michael enjoys strong espresso, cycling the river valley, and curling up with a great book.
He is married to his wife Brittany Kustra who promotes local businesses as the Edmonton Manager for www.yelp.ca.
